This was painted in Photoshop and ArtRage (a very much recommended program for digital drawing/painting). I'm using a Wacom drawing tablet with a pen.
I imagined the location and used some trees and some forest for reference while drawing and painting, but all in all it's very free, I just painted what I imagined.
I intend to get back to painting "real" oil, watercolor hopefully soon, but for the moment I'm very much into this kind of digital painting, and nearly I spend all my time on this!
